Final Proposal

Title: 
  • Istana Kenangan,Kuala Kangsar.
Abstract:
  • This application is about a walkthrough of Istana Kenangan, Kuala Kangsar that built as a temporary palace for Sultan Iskandar Shah in 1930s.
  • The palace was built after the Big Flood in 1926.
  • This wooden palace is built like a sword, with the Sultan's bed chambers located at the 'handle' and the balai rong seri (audience hall) at the scabbard.
  • This application also will have a lot of information of Istana Kenangan and Sultan Iskandar Shah and also the interactive pop up information for user to interact with this application.
Target Audience:
  • Heritage researchers, archeologist, government. 
Goal:
  • What is the goal of the whole application?
  • To let the user know about the history of Istana Kenangan, Kuala Kangsar in 1930's that have been built for Sultan Iskandar Shah as a temporary palace while waiting for Istana Iskandariah completed.
  • What is the application trying to solve?
  • In this current time, that Istana Kenangan has become the Royal Museum of Perak but its not open for other people. The architecture of the palace is so unique and there is none like it in Perak or in the rest of the country. So, by this application, it will help the user to enter and see the interior and also exterior environment of that palace in 1930's and they will be more appreciate for this golden heritage. The user no need to go to Perak instead they can just sit at home and have the precious experience by using this application.
  • What is the advantage of VR that can be exploited to enhance project?
  • User can view 360 degrees to see the whole environment of Istana Kenangan that have been done built in 1930's.
  • This VR application will give the information to the user with the easier way through the interactive pop up information.
Objectives:
  • to allow the user to get the information with the easier way.
  • to make the user feel like they also in that palace through the sound effects and the environment of that palace in 1930's.
  • to help the user to be more understand and appreciate this entire heritage from this VR application.
  • to show the different and interesting architectural of this palace to the user.

Put the cusor on the object, the information will appear.


Description:
  1. The user will be at the outside of the palace to see, walk and explore the exterior.
  2. Then, the user will go to the main stairs to enter that palace.
  3. After that, the user will start explore the interior in that palace which are serambi area, balai rong seri, rest erea, eating area and kitchen.
Interaction Description:
  • User can just control the environment by using the keyboard and mouse.
  • Every area will have the proximity sensor that can make door open and activate the suitable song or sound effects for every area.
  • The interactive information and narration will appear if the user come close to the certain object.

Istana Kenangan, Kuala Kangsar.




- Built in 1926 after Big Flood.
- Originally called Istana Lembah, the 'Palace of the Valley' and also known as Istana Tepas.
- The builders were a family of carpenters from Seberang Perai, Haji Suffian and his sons, Encik Zainal Abidin and Encik Ismail.
- After this palace completed in 1931, Sultan Iskandar Shah moved to this palace.
- It was built as a temporary palace for the late Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Iskandar Shah while awaiting the completion of Istana Iskandariah.
- Then, after Istana Iskandariah was completed in 1933, Sultan Iskandar Shah moved into it while other members of the family went to stay in the Istana Lembah  which is now known as Istana Kenangan.
- It has now become the Royal Museum of Perak.

Sultan Iskandar Shah (1918-1938)




- It is a charming wooden structure.
- It was planned to shaped like a sword in its scabbard.
- The handle of the sword is where the Sultan's bedchamber is located.
- The walls are made of diamond shaped plaits (kelarai).
- The roof structure take the combined styles of the five ridges (perabung lima) and the ridge of the five bananas (perabung pisang sesikat).

- Built without a blueprint or a single nail.

- This palace was built by 60 pillars which are 42meters for the height and 11meters for the width of that pillars.


- It is painted in the State colours that representing the 3 branches of the royal family which are white, yellow and black that can give that palace an overall lattice effect.

Food Land (Game)

Title: Food Land

Abstract:
  • This game is about to arrange the ingredients for the food so that the user can finish every level.
  • The environment is relate with the food that user have to make such as for air batu campur, the environment will have the big ice cube, a lot of red beans, bowl, syrup, ABC stall and others.
  • In their journey in this game, the user have to pick up the ingredients that they see and collect them to make one menu for every level.
  • If the user forget to pick up or collect one of the ingredient, they will fail and they will not going to continue the next level and can't experience the delicious and lovely journey.
  • This game also will have the obstacles that can make user confuse to choose the ingredients.

Target Audience: 6 - 9 years old

Goal:
  • The main goal for this game is to help kids differentiate the type of food and the ingredient on that food.
  • Problem statement:
- Most of kids do not know how to serve and prepare food. So, with this game it can help them learn and practice to have a good and delicious food.


- Why this game using VR and not other medium(eg: flash and others 2D game)?
              * if this game in 2D, it will lose the reality of the environment.
              * 3D can give better visualization and looks very live than 2D.
              * in 3D, this game can view 360 degree (rotate the model in any angle) and can see the   entire environment.
              * 3D provide depth perception that can give us the maximum viewing pleasure.Not as much as 2D which is looks more flat.
              * 3D can give the smooth motion or movement to the character and the environment.
              * 3D allow the user experience the interactivity environment that can give more immersion to the user.
              * in 3D environment, camera can move freely through the environment and give the highest resolution of any objects in that environment.

  • Advantages of this game:
- it can give the early learning to kids for prepare and serve their own food.
- the colourful, shape and delicious environment in this game also can give the enjoyment to the user.
- this game can help all the kids choose the right ingredient for their food.
- the informative audio can help and guide kids to be more immerse in this game.


Objectives:
  • to immerse the user through the delicious and colourful environment and also through the sound effect.
  • to help the user recognize and differentiate the type of food and the ingredient on it.
  • to teach the user how to prepare some food through pick up or collect the ingredient of the food.
  • to let the user have the enjoyment experience through this fantasy land.

Reference for the arrangement of the ingredients that have to pick up

Description:
  1. At the 1st level, user will be in the Ais Batu Campur task and environment which is there will have the big ice cube, ABC stalls and other ingredients of the ABC.
  2. Most of the things in the environment will be in the plus size to make this game more interesting.
  3. User need to pick up the right ingredients that have been given before they start this level and if they fail or choose the wrong ingredients, they have to start this level back.
  4. Then, after they finish this level, user will be enter the 2nd level which is burger area.
  5. Same as the 1st level, user need to choose the right ingredients to make a burger. The environment will have a lot of burger ingredients.
  6. After that, user will enter the last level which is banana split area. A lot of banana, ice cream and others ingredients for banana split that can be as the environment.
  7. This game will end if the finish all the task to prepare all the food that have given.

Interaction Description:
  1. To play this game, user need to use keyboard and mouse.
  2. The interactive direction will pop up every time user want to start each level and it also will appear after user finish every task.
  3. User need to click on the ingredients of the food that have been given to pick up all of them and finish the task.
  4. Proximity sensor will be in every level for the sound effects and some obstacles.

Green Living (Game)

Title: Green Living

Abstract: 
  • This application will show the user how to do the simplest activity for the green living to save our earth from trouble such as global warming and pollutions.
  •  Each level need user to complete every mission or task so that there will have the green, clean and safe environment to live at the ending of the level.


Target Audience: 5 - 45 years old


Goal:
  • To allow the user to get the information of green living by practice the simplest daily routine in their daily life:
- switch off the electric items that not use.
- pick up the rubbish and throw to the dustbin.
- just walk rather than use any vehicle that can cause air pollution.
- just use paper bag rather than use plastic bag at the market or bring our own bag.

  • Problem statement:
- give self awareness to be more responsible to protect our earth from destroyed.
- the effective way to make the user to practice this routine all the time that can avoid environmental damage.

  • This application will have a lot of direction that can make user learn and get the information of green living and apply it to their daily life. Such as:
- switch off all the electric items in the house by just click the switch.


Objectives:
  • To help the user to get the information of green living through this game.
  • To make the user have the self awareness to protect our earth.
  • To make the user practice the same task in this game and apply it in their daily routine.
  • To teach the user to be more responsible.

 Green and clean environment

Pop-up direction for every task at every level.

Pop-up information by clicking the object.

Description:
  1. At the 1st level, user will be in the house and the pop-up direction will appear which is they need to switch off all the electric items before they can go out from that house.
  2. If they not done, they can't go out and continue the next level.
  3. After they done, they have to go out from that house and the next direction will appear.
  4. There will have the optional which is the user need to choose either they want to walk, ride the motorcycle or car.
  5. If the user choose other than walk, they can't continue their journey to the next level.
  6. If user choose the option to walk, they need to walk at the sidewalk of the road and pick up all the rubbish along the way and throw it to the dustbin.
  7. The final level is the user will arrive at the mini market after they walk along the way.
  8. They have to use the paper bag to buy the things in there.
  9. If they choose to use the plastic bag, they will fail the task.
  10. After all the tasks are finish, the mission of the green living game is accomplish.

Interaction Description:
  • User have to use the keyboard and mouse to play this game.
  • When user want to start every level in this game, the pop-up direction will appear that can brief the task to the user.
  • Each level will have the proximity sensor for the door open and the sound effects.
  • If user click on some object, the pop-up information of the green living advantages will appear.

Virtual Gallery (Heritage)

Title: The Golden Heritage

Abstract: It is an educational museum that has the heritage of Perak. There will have 3 sections in that museum.
  • Tekad


  • Labu sayong


  • Keris




Target audience: 15 - 45 years old



Goal: 
  • To let the user know about the history of keris, labu sayong and tekad. Eg: how to make it, where it come from, etc.
  • The user no need to go far away from their home.
  • This VR application will give the information to the user with the easier way:
- user can just click to the 3D model and the pictures of keris, labu sayong and tekad and all the information will appear.
- there will have the narration to guide user when they enter that museum.


Objectives:
  • to allow the user to get the information with the easier way.
  • to make the user know and learn about where this precious heritage come from and how to make it.
  • to make the user feel like they also in that museum through the sound effects and the pictures.
  • to help the user to be more understand and appreciate this entire heritage from this VR application.

Description:
Istana Kuala Kangsar, Perak.
  1. The user will be at the outside of the museum to see, walk and explore the exterior.
  2. Then, the user will go to the main stairs of the museum to enter that museum.
  3. After that, they will enter the 1st section which is keris section. There, they will see a lot of pictures and the making of keris. If they go close to the model of keris, it will have the narration that will talk about that keris.
  4. Then, they will exit from that section and enter the 2nd section which labu sayong section. The environment in that section will relate to that labu sayong that can tell the story of it.
  5. After they done explore that section, the user will enter the last section which is tekad section and they will get a lot of information if they click the pictures.

Interaction Description:
  • User can just control the environment by using the keyboard and mouse.
  • User can get the explanation of each object by just click the pictures in that museum.
  • Every section will have the proximity sensor that can make door open and activate the suitable song or sound for every area.
  • The interactive information and narration will appear if the user come close to the certain object.
